KATHRYN THOMAS

Kathryn gained a BA (Hons) in Fine Art [Painting], at the University of the West of England, Bristol in 1988. In 1992 she was awarded Regional Winner of the Laing Art Competition at The Mall Galleries, London and her work was also exhibited at The Barbican as part of the ‘Just Art’ Award Winners Show. 

‘Through painting I attempt to create an image that seems different each time you look at it – whether this depends on your changing mood or perspective. Through this changing image I want you to be able to conjure an atmosphere or a feeling from your own experience, so that it involves you.

On a more universal level, I would hope that the viewer may become more aware of the power of Nature and see things simply and for what they are – realising the fleeting relationship with our planet.’

Kathryn has won many Commissions and Awards for her work, including The Royal Bank of Scotland, London, The Laing Art Calendar, Coopers and Lybrand, Bristol and the Prince’s Youth Business Trust Award. Her work has been widely exhibited throughout the UK, as well as in Dallas and The Netherlands is held in many private collections throughout the world, including London, Bordeaux, Berlin, Florida, New York, Sydney and the Channel Islands.
